Who it is for
When people call about kitchen electrics
The usual reasons.
A new kitchen going in
The wiring needs doing before the units and tiles go on.
Not enough sockets on the worktop
Adaptors behind the toaster and kettle is a sign you need more.
A new oven or hob
Some cookers and induction hobs need a bigger circuit than the old one.
Appliances tripping the power
Often too many appliances on one circuit, or a faulty one.
Dark worktops
Under-cabinet strips and plinth lights make a kitchen easier to use.
Moving the layout
Sockets, switches and the cooker point moved to suit the new plan.

Questions
Questions about
kitchens
Not sure what you need? Send Harry a photo and he will tell you.
WhatsApp HarryHow much does it cost to move a plug socket?
It depends on the wall and how far it is moving. A short move on a plasterboard wall is simpler than chasing a solid wall. Send Harry a photo and he will price it.
Can you add extra sockets to my kitchen?
Usually yes, as long as the circuit can take them. Harry checks the circuit and tells you if it needs a new one.
Do I need a new circuit for an induction hob?
Often. Many induction hobs need a dedicated circuit of the right size. Check the hob's installation sheet and send it to Harry.
When should the electrician come in during a kitchen fit?
Twice: first fix once the old kitchen is out and before plastering, and second fix once the units and tiles are in.
Do I get a certificate for kitchen electrics?
Yes. The work is tested and certified, and new circuits are notified to Building Control.
